Saumen has more than 20 years of Asset Management experience and has held senior leadership positions at major financial institutions, including Jackson National Asset Management, Harbor Capital Advisors (Harbor Funds) and the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI). Prior to founding Convex Capital Management, he was the Head of Investment Management at Jackson National Asset Management, where he helped develop and manage unique risk-hedged strategies. At Jackson he managed nine funds, led an eight-member investment team and reported to two fund boards. Prior to Jackson, Saumen spent 7 years at Harbor Capital Advisors (Harbor Funds), where he was the Director of Quantitative Management and the lead Portfolio Manager for Harbor Target Date Funds.
Saumen started his career with IDBI in 1994 where he managed diversified Project Appraisal cases, eventually rising to the position of Assistant General Manager before emigrating to the United States. Saumen has a Masters in Accounting and Finance from the University of Calcutta and MBA in Finance from the University of Toledo. He holds a FCA and CPA designation, and is a CFA charterholder. Saumen speaks at various industry conferences and is highly regarded for his analytical and portfolio management skills.
